TECH DETOX
In the dawn of the era when handheld devices started to seamlessly meld with our beings, Mellbratt-Wiberg foreshadowed the gradual fading of an authentic being in the world (Dasein), an ominous fate quietly looming for those who embraced these technological extensions.
“Tech Detox” is an imaginative endeavour orchestrated to provide support for those who find themselves ensnared in the relentless grasp of mobile phones and technology. Its overarching aspiration is to ameliorate the affliction of overreliance on short bursts of phone use to provide an excretion of dopamine that may be addictive. A striking symbol, a visual muse, and a metaphorical beacon of respite, the project introduces the concept of a “Prescription Dog Collar” – a powerful reminder to sever the digital ties and succumb to a tranquil detachment. This inventive vision beckons individuals to embrace a world untouched by screens, to rediscover the subtleties of existence that technology has, until now, obscured.
